Here you will find everything you need to know about the founder of Salon Kitty, Alicia von Sobbe-Grimberg.
Why Salon Kitty?
When I moved to London I was shocked to find that the general view of Australian fashion was board shorts and flip flops. As I grew up in Sydney I know that Australian designers are amongst the best in the world but very few people know about them. I wanted to bring little known but talented designers into the UK to show you what we in Australia are really made of!!
How did you come up with the name Salon Kitty?
I wanted the website to have a girly feel to it almost like an online boudior so it needed the word 'salon' in the name plus I love cats!

Dannii or Kylie Minogue?
DANNII!!! I grew up watching Young Talent Time (YTT) in the 80's when Dannii was one of the YTT gang - I even went to their concerts at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. I loved watching her perform and I still do today, I have even been to a couple of her gigs at G-A-Y in London!
What are your ideals concerning fashion?
I have always felt that all women, no matter their shape or size have the right to feel good about themselves. Fashion really does have the ability to make people feel positive about the way they look and this shows in how they then present themselves to others. All women have a special outfit that they feel comfortable in or confident in, whether it be a skimpy little top or a pair of sweat pants. When women buy from the site I also want them to take with them the feeling that the item that they have bought makes them look and feel great. Then no matter what has happened during the week, they can put on that new dress or top they have bought and go out full of confidence and feeling like the woman they always wanted to be.
How do you choose the clothes that go on the website?
Well I try and pick the designers that offer something a little bit extra. Whether that be in design, or the quality of the materials that they use or if I think they are slightly ahead of the rest of the labels in terms of bringing an idea to market that little bit sooner. Then my partner looks at the clothes and tells me if he thinks they look sexy on a woman, then I go through the range and look at things from a woman's perspective. Any clothes that we both tick make the collection.
What are your favourite Sydney and London restaurants?
Guillaume at Bennelong (Opera House) and Wildfire in Sydney are great and No:5 Cavendish Square in London gets my vote.
What about nightspots?
In Sydney, Mars Lounge wins hands down it was one of the few places where dancing in the tables was acceptable! I really enjoy going to China White in London - you do meet some random characters in there!
